This might sounds a bit strange, but even though I work at advertising agency, I always felt that I don’t really know anything about advertising. It might be because I don’t really believe in advertising or simply because I wasn’t very interested. Honestly, I do feel sometimes it’s a total waste of money spending millions of dollars to show 20 sec commercial that doesn’t really have any strong message to deliver. Isn’t it better to spend that money to create better products? It makes me depressed sometimes, when I get briefed by client or team to create an expensive microsite whereas the client’s main website has so many problems.

65% Americans believe they are “constantly bombarded with too much” advertising

Few weeks ago, it was an Advertising Week in Toronto and I got a ticket to watch this film called, Art & Copy filmed by Doug Pray. I have to say it was really inspiring to hear what advertising is all about from the people who truly believe advertising. It’s quite amazing to see the power of advertising when it’s done in the right way and the impact of great advertising campaigns. Also, it was interesting to see the people who are legendary in the field and I was truly amazed by how talented they are.

I love documentary films about design industry such as Helvetica and Objectified. And this movie is definitely recommended and will be my new top 3.
